STORY OF CHELLO'S APPAM STALL
The Chello's Appam stall which has been around 28 years now, located along Lorong Ara Kiri 3 in Lucky Garden. The owner of the stall Madam Chelochina Thevi, 55 years old said that she begin the family business with the help of her husband. Before she build a stall, she was working in a company and later on she resigned her job when she got married. During that time, they faced financial problem although her husband was working that time. Meanwhile, Mdm. Chelochina 's sister had a stall which sell varieties of Indian foods, so her sister give her idea to build own stall since they were facing financial problem. On 1989, she started with her Appam stall after shifting to Bangsar from Sunway with her family members. Her first set up her stall near TMC Supermarket which was under an umbrella with small table. At the beginning, she had to begin with 3 stove to make the appam, as soon the demand for the appam increases, she had to use 5 stove to prepare the appam.
When her business start to strike up, she has been ordered by Majlis Perbandaran to shift her stall near CIMB Bank, Bangsar. Now, she is using 11 stove per day and hired more workers to help her out. She decided to sell Puri (unleavened deep fried Indian bread) to upgrade her business and she got more good responses from her customers. On 1997, finally she moved her stall to Lucky Garden, Bangsar where she became well known for her Appam. Her sister the owner of Devi's Corner Restaurant in Bangsar wanted Mdm. Chelochina to join along with her but she refuse as she wanted to continue her Appam stall. Now her Appam stall is a hot spot for everyone to have a taste of their delicious Appam. In future, Mdm. Chelochina Appam stall will be hand over to her daughter.

HISTORY OF HER APPAM !!!

Appam is a type of pancake made with fermented rice butter and coconut milk which also known as Milk Hoppers. It is a common food in the South Indian and also popular in Malaysia especially among the Indians who have it frequently for breakfast or even dinner.
Mdm. Chelochina commenced her plain appam where sheserved it with coconut milk. Later on, one of her regular customer suggested to her to come up with a different appam flavour instead of just coconut milk.
So, she decide to serve her delicious appam with brown sugar topping. This unsurpassed appam become demanding item in her stall.

"When we asked, what makes her brown sugar Appam unique?" Mdm. Chelochina said that it is prepared according to the Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) style of preparation which is moist at the center unlike the Indian style which is dry and you would have to add coconut milk while eating. Here however, the coconut milk is added while cooking making the taste completely different to the Indian one. We can enjoy delicious Appam with a reasonable price  in Mdm. Chelochina's stall.

OUR FEEDBACK
As for our opinion, we loved the Appam because it taste so good and different from any other Appam. We have tasted the brown sugar appam, coconut milk appam, vadai, Ketayapa coconut pancake and currypuff, and it is absolutely tastier.

I (Leva) personally suggest besides having her Appam, you also should try to eat her crunchy and spicy currypuffs as it's potato masala fillings combined with its crispy crust bring its special taste

(Hema) likes besides the Indian snacks, the Onion Thosai available in her stall has a different taste and definitely best food to give a try.

If you are a Appam lover or just happen to be in the area, it is highly recommended that you give this place a try and you would not regret and quite possibly become a regular customer.
